With tracks that speak on love, growth, and everything in between,Lone Wolfe is carving out a lane all his own. In this exclusive Q&A snippet from our upcoming magazine "Hustle & Growth", we sit down with the rising star to talk about his journey, inspirations, and what’s coming next. Whether you’re a longtime R&B fan or just discovering DMV talent, this is one artist you’ll want on your radar.

1. What inspired you to start your journey as an independent artist/business owner, and what were those early days like?

Bow wow. Simple. My mom took me to my local record store in my neighborhood and she let me buy the scream tour VHS and the beware of dog album. Seeing a kid not to much older than me move so many people on stage and have people inspired and screaming his name moved me like nothing else. I instantly became obsessed with the process of writing songs and making music. Since I didn’t have any equipment or money for that matter my mom got me a old school tape recorder and some tapes and I would beat box and harmonize melodies into the tape recorder and then writer over that around the age of 8. I honestly still do the same thing today but with voice memo on my iPhone.

2. What does "hustle" mean to you, and how has that mindset shaped your path so far?

Means to do what you love and make it not feel like work. People think in some aspects that hustle means to grind hard with labor and do things you don’t have to get where you need to be. but to me that’s a mindset everything you do, even the stuff you don’t want to do, is what I love to do because it’s all apart of the mission I was assigned since that seed the creator planted in me when I was 8 to create songs. So I won’t label things in negative ways if it’s getting me to the goal of being an artist.

3. What has been the toughest obstacle you've faced, and how did you push through it?

Switching from being a rapper to a pop singer, then having my first song as a pop artist doing 50k in the first 4 months and having managements, producers and labels hit me up promising me dreams and me listening to them and putting my career in their hands which led me to not drop for almost two years and stall my moment as a brand new artist. Now I’m working from the ground up again to maintain and curate a new organic fan base without a label or management and just pure talent, God sense direction and research.

4. Have you ever thought about quitting — and if so, what kept you going?

All the time, if you are a creative you will always have these daunting thought when you aren’t being appreciated or recognized for your art, but I always remind myself that this would be worth it even if i was recognized at the final stages of my life and I was able to touch people’s lives. So quitting would kill me internally knowing I was never able to achieve that goal or touching people’s souls with my music.

5. How has your vision or strategy evolved from when you first started?

At first, it was a selfish thinking of getting accolades for my talent but now it’s more selfish less. I’m starting to realize that fame or mass attention from our talents is an inorganic response to appreciate an artist but is understandable to a certain extent. The more that I’ve evolved I realized that artist are actually martyrs for a bigger cause in trying to shape or change the status quo of the world’s view on culture, people and simple societies at times causing us to sacrifice our own life of normalcy. That being said my goal now is to heal people through healing myself with songs of introspection. Hoping that the audience can see themselves through me or the situations I present so they can self correct or self cleanse their soul before their departure from this world that we know.
