We got a chance to experience Fan Expo Boston this year and spoiler alert... we LOVED IT!

We've been lucky to gain press access to many events over the years but Fan Expo Boston was a nerdy convention that came with plenty to do. From gaming in their arcade spot, to cosplay meet ups with dedicated DJ's that would play the soundtrack from the anime/shows, to the lovely diverse artist alley, and of course meeting your favorite actors/actresses and getting a signature. There was plenty to keep you entertained over the three day convention.

Fan Expo Boston pulled out all the stops this year inviting guests like Hayden Christensen, Ewan McGregor, Giancarlo Esposito, Michaela Jill Murphy, John Boyega, Kurt Angle, and Todd Haberkorn. With so many heavy hitters you would think the fans would be rowdy and hard to manage but that's were we think the Expo truly shined, the crew. The crew for Boston Fan Expo were some of the best we've experienced. They were all very kind, welcoming, had answers to many questions, interacted with attendees while they waited in line. We truly commend them for being a major contributor to the weekend being amazing.

There were plenty of free photo opportunities for those that had cosplays. There was a whole area dedicated to Star Wars where people could get photos with cosplayers and learn/play the star wars card game. There was also a steam punk display that was breathtaking and awesome for photos!

The biggest expense for the weekend was the hotel followed by the parking. There are plenty of hotel and parking options around the convention center but unless purchased VERY early it will cost you anywhere around $600-$1100. There are more affordable prices in the towns'cities right outside of Downtown Boston that you can get. We stayed at the Westin hotel in Waltham. You'll probably be spending around $20-$42 a day on parking depending on how long you're staying at the convention and how many times you leave and reenter the garages/lots in a given day.
Overall as you can tell we thought highly of the event. There were many great cosplays, amazing crew members, solid location for the convention, plenty of chances to get the autographs and time with celebrities, great panels, and awesome artists. I will say there was a long walk from the main entrance to the check in/where the con was which wasn't really a problem for me but there were many people who had disabilities which makes walking for them an issue if not impossible so in the future it would be nice to for the organizers to let handicapped fans enter through the "priority/press entrance which is much closer to the main con area. (If they already had an special entrance for them this year we missed it and that's on us) Now for the official ranking... Fan Expo Boston is WORTH USING YOUR PTO!
